Craft
I used to sew quite a lot, but after I had kids I realized that it's quite an isolating activity, with lots of equipment that's dangerous for little hands. These days I'm doing a lot of knitting, and now I wish I'd learned to knit ten years ago. Perhaps soon I will put up a gallery of finished objects.
Read
I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy, but I read from a lot of other categories as well, including non-fiction. Some of my favorites are listed here.
- Saga of the Skolian Empire by Catherine Asaro. (Start with Primary Inversion)
- A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin.
- Kage Baker's Company series.
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.
- Sandman by Neil Gaiman, and anything else he writes.
- The Hyperion series by Dan Simmons.
- Steel Beach by John Varley.
- Cryptonomicon, Snow Crash, and The Baroque Cycle by Neal Stephenson.
More of my favorite authors include Robert A. Heinlein, Frank Herbert, Dorothy L. Sayers, Robert Jordan, Sheri S. Tepper, Lois McMaster Bujold, Melanie Rawn, and Michael A. Burstein.
Kid around
Most of my days are spent with my wonderful kids, born in 2001 and 2003. The big one will be entering kindergarten in September 2006. They are definitely the most beautiful things I've ever made.
Browse
Yeah, I browse way too much. But you don't need my links, do you? I'll bet you have plenty of your own already.
